Where I practice

Telehealth psychiatry in four states

I see patients by secure video in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida and Oregon. You need to be physically located in one of these states during each visit. Payment options, rules for teens and prescribing rules differ by state, so here is what applies where you live.

Pennsylvania

Telehealth psychiatry in Pennsylvania

I'm based in Pennsylvania and see children, teens and adults anywhere in the state by secure video.

Paying for care

You can use insurance through Headway, which works with plans such as Independence Blue Cross, Highmark BCBS, Capital Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna and UnitedHealthcare. See the full list on Insurance & Fees and check your coverage before booking. Private pay is also available: $380 for an initial evaluation and $185 for a follow-up.

Teens

In Pennsylvania, teens 14 and older can consent to outpatient mental health treatment on their own, and a parent or guardian can also consent. When a teen consents on their own, the teen generally decides who can see their records. A parent who consents to treatment can receive the information needed to make treatment decisions, such as symptoms, medications, risks and benefits. Children under 14 need a parent's or guardian's consent.

Prescribing

When clinically appropriate, stimulant medications for ADHD can be prescribed by telehealth in Pennsylvania, in line with federal and state law. Before prescribing controlled medications, I check Pennsylvania's prescription monitoring program as required.

New Jersey

Telehealth psychiatry in New Jersey

I see children, teens and adults located in New Jersey by secure video.

Paying for care

You can use insurance through Headway, which works with plans such as Horizon BCBS NJ, Aetna, Cigna and UnitedHealthcare. See the full list on Insurance & Fees. Private pay is also available: $380 for an initial evaluation and $185 for a follow-up.

Teens

In New Jersey, teens 16 and older can consent to temporary outpatient mental health treatment, but a parent or guardian must consent to medication. Care a teen lawfully consents to on their own is kept confidential and shared with a parent only as the law allows. Younger children need a parent's or guardian's consent.

Prescribing

For adults 18 and older, New Jersey law generally requires an in-person evaluation before prescribing Schedule II stimulants, plus periodic in-person visits. Because this is a telehealth practice, adults who may benefit from a stimulant are referred to a prescriber who offers in-person care. Non-stimulant medications can be prescribed by telehealth when appropriate.

For patients under 18, stimulants can be prescribed by telehealth using live video, with a parent's or guardian's written consent to waive the in-person requirement, as New Jersey law permits.

Florida

Telehealth psychiatry in Florida

I provide psychiatric care to patients located in Florida through Florida's out-of-state telehealth provider registration.

Paying for care

Florida care is private pay only: $380 for an initial evaluation and $185 for a follow-up. I can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Teens

In Florida, a parent or guardian must give written consent before care begins or medication is prescribed for anyone under 18, unless the law allows otherwise. Parents generally have the right to review their child's medical records.

Prescribing

Controlled substances, including stimulant medications, are not prescribed to patients located in Florida. Non-controlled medications, such as antidepressants and non-stimulant ADHD medications, can be prescribed by telehealth when appropriate.

Oregon

Telehealth psychiatry in Oregon

I see patients located in Oregon by secure video for psychiatric evaluation, medication management and psychedelic integration therapy.

Paying for care

Oregon care is private pay only: $380 for an initial evaluation and $185 for a follow-up. Psychedelic integration sessions are $300 for the first session and $225 for follow-ups. Superbills are available for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Teens

In Oregon, teens 14 and older can consent to outpatient mental health care without a parent. I involve a parent or guardian before treatment ends unless the parent refuses or there are clear clinical reasons not to. If a teen is at serious and imminent risk of suicide, Oregon law requires sharing information and safety planning with a parent or other trusted adult, unless that would put the teen in danger. Children under 14 need a parent's or guardian's consent.

Prescribing

Controlled substances, including stimulant medications, are not currently prescribed to patients located in Oregon. Non-stimulant ADHD medications and other non-controlled medications can be prescribed by telehealth when appropriate.

Psychedelic integration

Integration sessions can help after an experience at an Oregon psilocybin service center or anywhere else. I'm not a licensed psilocybin facilitator and don't provide or arrange psilocybin. Learn about integration in Oregon or read a guide to Oregon Psilocybin Services.

FAQ

Common questions about location

Do I need to be in one of these states during my visit?

Yes. Licensing rules are based on where you are physically located at the time of each visit, not where you live. You need to be in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida or Oregon for every appointment.

What if I'm traveling on the day of my appointment?

If you'll be outside these four states, let me know ahead of time so we can reschedule or plan for refills. Visits can't take place while you're in another state.

What if I move to another state?

Tell me as soon as you know. If I'm not licensed in your new state, we'll plan a safe transition, including referrals and enough medication to bridge the gap.

Can I use insurance in Florida or Oregon?

Not directly. Care in Florida and Oregon is private pay. I can give you a superbill to submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Do you offer in-person visits?

No. All visits are by secure video.

Are sessions available in Russian?

Yes. Sessions are available in English and Russian in all four states.
